# How does FMS Academy Credit work?

Academy Credit is a dollar-for-dollar discount on your first FMS Academy membership. If you've recently bought FMS education, you don't pay for it twice when you upgrade.

**Academy upgrade price = $899 − your Academy Credit**

Your credit is the total of your eligible course purchases from the last 90 days, plus any eligible courses in your current cart.

**Example:** You buy SFMA Level 1 for $799, then upgrade to the Academy within 90 days. Your $799 credit comes off the $899 price, so you pay $100 for your first 12 months.

### The rules

- **First-time members only.** Credit is for customers who have never activated the FMS Academy.
- **90-day window.** Only eligible course purchases from the last 90 days count.
- **Your cart counts.** Eligible courses in your cart add to your credit at checkout.
- **Credit is used up when you upgrade.** Once you join the Academy, your credit is applied and removed from your dashboard.
- **No new credit after Academy.** If your Academy membership expires or is canceled, you can't earn Academy Credit again. Returning members rejoin at $200/year instead.
- **Certifications alone don't count.** Holding an FMS Level 1 or SFMA Level 1 certification doesn't earn credit. Credit comes from eligible purchases only.

Academy Credit isn't cash, a refund or a transferable balance. It's a discount on your first Academy membership.
